Weaving Networks of Collaboration

To be alive in this beautiful, self-organizing universe — to participate in the dance of life with senses to perceive it, lungs that breathe it, organs that draw nourishment from it — is a wonder beyond words.
— Joanna Macy

Featured Project

Ecological Stewardship

At the turn of the new millennium, the Breitenbush Eco Fund (formerly Breitenbush Foundation) acquired 67 acres of forest land adjacent to Breitenbush Hot Springs (the other “half” of the original 160 Breitenbush homestead). Slated for major development by its previous owner, this once pristine wildlife habitat had been logged and roaded, leaving large amounts of industrial debris on the land. The Eco Fund began restoration efforts immediately, completing two log cabins that had been partially erected, cleaning up some of the worst messes, and sponsoring the first educational gatherings held on the property. After this beginning, the Eco Fund returned the property to Breitenbush Hot Springs which has continued these stewardship efforts to maintain the ecological balance promoting co-existence between human uses and the needs of the natural world.

Holistic Education

The Breitenbush Eco Fund underwrites programs and workshops, and provides scholarships to support people whose aspirations and intentions align with our mission, but who may need financial assistance. The Eco Fund supports educational environments that foster a direct experience of the natural world, inviting opportunities for personal growth and our connection to the web of life. The Eco Fund makes these resources affordable and accessible to a diversity of individuals and communities.
